Lyons man arrested for possession of methamphetamine

A 42-year-old Lyons man appeared in Greene Superior Court Feb. 22 after methamphetamine was located in his residence while officers attempted to serve a warrant.

Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Zach Goad arrested Michael David Kuhlenschmidt on Feb. 19 on charges of possession of methamphetamine and operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangerment.

Upon arrival at Kuhlenschmidt’s residence, according to the probable cause affidavit, he was handcuffed as he had an active warrant. He asked Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputies Zach Goad and Devan Goad if they could go inside so he could make phone calls prior to going to jail. While inside the residence, officers asked if they could search the residence as Kuhlenschmidt is on probation. Kuhlenschmidt consented to the search.

Prior to the search, according to the probable cause affidavit, Kuhlenschmidt advised officers there was a methamphetamine pipe outside the residence. He alleged he had given it to a female to get rid of it for him.

During the search, according to the probable cause affidavit, officers located a glass smoking device with white residue. The white residue field tested positive for methamphetamine.

He was booked into Greene County Jail where he was initially held without bond until his initial hearing on Feb. 22. At that time, his bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
