Sheriff's Department announces death of inmate while in custody

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported Friday morning the death of an inmate on April 18 due to an unknown medical event.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department, life-saving measures were started by jail staff on 42-year-old Lea Pfaff of Bloomfield. EMS personnel from the Greene County Ambulance Service arrived on scene and continued treating Pfaff. She was transported to Greene County General Hospital. She was later transferred to an Evansville hospital for treatment, where she was later pronounced dead. 

An autopsy is scheduled April 19 as part of an ongoing investigation. 

Pfaff was arrested on April 12 on five counts of criminal recklessness when the defendant shoots a firearm into a building, criminal mischief, and possession of paraphernalia.
